11.4 The Lobbia Homburg
A cap is recommended for those that practice sports, but a mature gentleman will opt for a soft felt hat; the Lobbia with turned up brim and a central crease similar to a dent.
The name derives from the Member of Parliament Cristiano Lobbia who in 1869, during a seemingly simulated mugging, was hit on the head with a stick that dented his hat.
An enterprising hatter took advantage the publicity that the event aroused in order to sell “Lobbia” Homburgs.
